The letter to the Hebrews is unique in the New Testament for its focus on the priesthood of Jesus and its interaction with the Old Testament. But beyond this deep theology, Hebrews is a practical book that addresses the very real challenges believers face when life gets difficult.

In Hebrews Verse by Verse, the late Grant R. Osborne, with George H. Guthrie, shows readers how this beautifully crafted letter encourages believers to endure in faithfulness to Jesus. By using Scripture and theology to lay the foundation for these exhortations, the central message of Hebrews continues to be relevant for the church today. Osborne's commentary delves into the grand implications of Christ's identity and its importance for our spiritual lives.

Grant R. Osborne was for many years professor of New Testament at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School. He is the author of numerous books, including The Hermeneutical Spiral: A Comprehensive Introduction to Biblical Interpretation, and commentaries on Revelation (Baker Exegetical Commentary on the New Testament), Romans (IVP New Testament Commentary), Matthew (Zondervan Exegetical Commentary on the New Testament), and John, James, 1–2 Peter, and Jude (Cornerstone Biblical Commentary). He also taught at Winnipeg Theological Seminary and the University of Aberdeen, and he pastored churches in Ohio and Illinois.

George H. Guthrie is professor of New Testament at Regent College. He has published commentaries on Hebrews (NIV Application Commentary) and 2 Corinthians (Baker Exegetical Commentary on the New Testament). He also has written a number of works designed to equip the church to better understand and apply Scripture, including Reader’s Guide to the Bible (LifeWay), Reading God’s Story (Broadman & Holman), and Read the Bible for Life (Broadman & Holman).
