About the Author
John Calvin (1509-1564) was born in France. Based in Geneva, Switzerland for much of his life, he became a principal figure of the Reformation, publishing sermons and authoring dozens of commentaries. His Institutes of the Christian Religion has continued to wield a distinctive influence in the church ever since its publication.
