Westminster Foundations: God's Glory as an Integrating Perspective on Reformed Theology
Westminster Foundations introduces a “Joy to the World” series dedicated to exemplifying, proclaiming, interceding and administrating the lex Christi “glories of his righteousness.” In Section One, Dr Yates identifies six symphonic patterns in the Westminster Standards that its authors used to integrate systematic and practical theology. In Section Two, he explains how Christ’s lex Christi righteous rule over the nations is extended by his representatives using those patterns. We “prove” that “truth and grace” and “wonders-of-his-love” blessings flow everywhere, removing the curses of lex Christi sins, consequent sorrows among men and thorns in the ground. Christ’s kingdom rule causes men, fields, floods, rocks, hills and plains to repeat the sounding joy of the blessed extension of His kingdom over the things that have been cursed. May these Westminster Standards perspectives reveal the “foundations” of Reformed theology that show readers the path to living the lex Christi blessings of the Christian life. May the Lord bring lex Christi “Joy to the World” through you!

Endorsements (${ productEndorsements.length })
“Dr. Yates' Foundations book represents an exciting and useful contribution to creative orthodoxy—theological creativity exercised in a way that respects the faith delivered once and for all to the saints. It shows how systematic connections in theme link the attributes of God not only to Christology and salvation but to practical Christian living. It thereby contributes to bringing the God-centered character of the biblical message into fruitful contact with many areas of need, such as parenting, counseling, and victory over sin.”
Dr. Vern S. Poythress
Professor of New Testament Interpretation, Westminster Theological Seminary
“The work of theology is largely the work of understanding relationships: relationships between biblical teachings, and relationships between those teachings and every facet of human life. I have tried, in various books and articles, to understand these relationships by reference to the Triune God (Father, Son, and Spirit) and the consequent attributes of divine LORDship (authority, control, presence). The threes make this outlook “tri-perspectival.” But now Tim Yates has sought to present a more detailed analysis he calls “Frame on steroids.” While I present a threefold understanding, Tim presents [a ten-fold analysis, a deca-perspectivalism]. This blows me away! Well, each generation of biblical scholars has the right, and the responsibility, to expand the church’s level of vision. And I’m delighted that Tim’s thought is not primarily directed toward Euro-American academic theorists, but first to the churches of Asia and those who labor among them. For all its deep content, this book is a document of the Great Commission, and I pray that God will empower it by his Spirit to bring insight and Christian growth.”
Dr. John Frame
Professor Emeritus of Systematic Theology and Philosophy, Reformed Theological Seminary
“Westminster Foundations: God's Glory as an Integrating Perspective on Reformed Theology shows that systematic theology and practical Christian living can be connected through a careful reading of Scripture, and engaging theological reflections that leads to a living orthodoxy that is biblical, confessional, and relational. Spirit wrought, Christ-centered, and God glorifying theological thinking marks Dr. Yates’ work—a book that will assist the church and academy, theologically, and in counseling”
